As part of Clare Culture Night 2013 Taking its cue from the venue’s name itself, the term ‘glór’ translates from the Irish to English to mean ‘voice’ or ‘utterance’. glór itself serves as a voice for the arts locally, regionally and nationally in providing a venue to bring top quality Irish and International performance across creative media to Clare audiences.

‘Signal to Noise’ takes this notion of ‘voice’ in the form of a day-long multi-media exhibition of practitioners responding generally to the notion of communication. The signal to noise ratio, as used in science and engineering, is the ratio of intended signal to unintended noise. In terms of person-to-person communication this notion is adopted here to conceptually explore the degree of solid meaning contained in our daily communications to the degree of culturally ingrained buffering content.
